WELCOME TO PROJECT HORSE - COLORADO

Project Horse - Colorado provides custom-tailored equine assisted mental health services to individuals of nearly any age who are facing emotional, behavioral or cognitive challenges. We offer a unique and engaging way to deliver help and support — every participant works in partnership with one or more of our therapy horses. This “work” is done on the ground, where both horse and participant are on equal footing.

Our non-riding approach is intriguing, as are the stories of our partner horses, which help engage those resistant to treatment. And, learning to interact and work with a large animal builds confidence and boosts self-esteem. Engaging in one’s own treatment and beginning to feel better about one’s self and situation, empower a participant to heal and grow.

Project Horse specializes in Trauma Healing & Recovery. Our approach is tailored to a participant’s age as well as their trauma experience. Our initial focus is on finding ways to help reduce symptoms of PTS(D), so that trauma survivors are able to move forward immediately, with hope. We do work with many different populations, and Project Horse’s highly experienced teams of 2 and 4-legged professionals can help you, or someone you love, work through a wide range of challenges, such as:

  • Anxiety (from mild to severe/debilitating)

  • Depression (from mild to severe)

  • Post Traumatic Growth

  • Self-Harm & Suicidal Ideation (Learn more: REACH Youth Suicide Crisis Intervention & Prevention Program)

  • ADD & ADHD (children & teens)

  • Youth Truancy or Conduct Disorder (including court-involved)

“The people and horses at Project Horse are truly angels on earth”
— Mother of a teen therapy client

Project Horse’s mission is to improve the mental health and wellness of individuals by connecting them in unique partnerships with therapy horses.

The majority of each herd is made up of horses who have been rescued from various situations — neglect, starvation, abandonment or physical abuse. At Project Horse, we connect individuals in need of hope and healing with our rehabilitated rescue horses, creating a unique community of mutual healing and benefit.

Project Horse is dedicated to improving the quality of life for both horses and humans.
